Privacy Policy

TL;DR

You can use Win7 Simu without an account. If you sign in, we store your user name, your account picture and, with Google, Apple or GitHub, your email address. Your files and settings stay on your device. Win7 Simu shows ads, and our ad partners collect your device's advertising ID and usage data, which can be used for personalized ads if you allow it. We use Firebase Analytics to understand how the app is used. You can delete your account in the app. Contact us at hey@visnalize.com with any question.

Visnalize ("we", "us", "our") makes the Win7 Simu app for Android and the web (the "Service"). This page explains what information the Service collects, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. By using the Service, you agree to this policy.

Information we collect

Account information

Signing in is optional. You can create an account with a user name and a password, or sign in with Google, Apple or GitHub. When you sign in, we receive and store:

  • your user name or display name,
  • your account picture (a picture you choose in the app, or the picture from your Google, Apple or GitHub account),
  • your email address, if you sign in with Google, Apple or GitHub (with Apple, this can be a private relay address). Accounts made with a user name and password have no email address,
  • a user ID, and which sign-in providers you use.

Your user name and account picture are shown to other signed-in users in Control Panel > User Accounts.

When you sign in or create an account in the web version of the app, hCaptcha is used to check that you are not a robot. hCaptcha receives information such as your IP address and how you use the page.

Themes you publish

When you publish a theme from Theme Studio, we store the theme, its preview picture, its name, the date and your user ID, and add it to a search index at Algolia. Published themes are public, so anyone using the app can see and use them.

Usage and device information

The app uses Firebase Analytics to understand how the app is used. It records events such as signing in, changing themes, adding gadgets, ads shown, and subscription screens. Firebase also collects device information (such as device model, operating system and app version), an app instance ID, your approximate location based on your IP address and, on Android, your device's advertising ID. This information is not linked to your Win7 Simu account.

Notifications

On Android, the app registers with Firebase Cloud Messaging to receive notifications from us, such as news about the app. This gives your device a notification token. You can turn notifications off in your device settings.

Advertising

The Android app shows ads through AppLovin MAX, which may show ads from its partners Google AdMob, Liftoff (Vungle) and Unity Ads. The web version shows ads from Google AdSense. These ad networks collect information such as your device's advertising ID, IP address, approximate location, device information and how you interact with ads. They use it to show ads, measure them, prevent fraud and, if you allow it, show personalized ads.

  • In some regions, such as the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom, the app asks for your consent for personalized ads.
  • On Android, you can reset or delete your advertising ID in your device settings.

Purchases

  • Android. Purchases are processed by Google Play. We use RevenueCat to manage them. RevenueCat receives your purchase history and an anonymous app user ID, which is not linked to your Win7 Simu account.
  • Web. Purchases are processed by Lemon Squeezy. After you buy, the app keeps your billing email address on your device and sends it to our billing service (billing.visnalize.com) to check which products you own.

We never receive your payment card details.

Information that stays on your device

  • Files and settings. Your files, desktop, settings, saved themes and game progress are stored on your device, for each account. They are not sent to us. A backup that you make is saved as a file on your device.
  • Installed apps. On Android, the app reads the list of apps installed on your device to show them in the simulated Start menu and to open them when you choose. This list is never sent to us.
  • Device information. The app reads information such as memory, processor, battery level, language and time zone to show in simulated system screens. This information is never sent to us.
  • Camera and microphone. The Camera and Sound Recorder apps use your camera and microphone only when you open them and allow it. Photos and recordings are saved on your device and are never sent to us.
  • Clipboard. Some apps, such as Calculator, read your clipboard only when you choose to paste.

Services you reach through the app

Some features send what you type to other services:

  • Weather gadget. The city that you enter is sent to wttr.in to get the weather.
  • Browser apps. The web pages that you open in the simulated browsers are loaded from those websites, which receive your IP address and may use cookies.
  • Command Prompt. The ping command sends requests to the addresses that you enter.
  • Links and sharing. Links to other websites, and share buttons for social networks, open those sites. Their own privacy policies apply.

How we use information

We use the information above to:

  • provide the Service, including accounts, published themes and purchases,
  • understand how the app is used and improve it,
  • show ads, and limit how often they appear,
  • send you notifications about the app,
  • prevent abuse,
  • respond to your messages.

We do not sell your personal information.

Service providers

We use these third-party services. Each has its own privacy policy:

  • Published themes stay public after you delete your account. To have them deleted, contact us.
  • Files on your device are not deleted with your account. You can remove them by clearing the app's data or uninstalling the app.
  • Analytics data is kept according to Firebase's retention settings.
  • To ask us to delete any data that we hold about you, email hey@visnalize.com from the address linked to your account, or give us your user name.

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete or move your personal data, or to object to how we use it. To use these rights, contact us.

Security

Data is sent over encrypted connections (HTTPS). No method of storage or sending data over the internet is fully secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Children's privacy

The Service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe that a child under 13 has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
